Absolutely expert, professional-quality bagpiping for your event, be it a wedding, birthday party, memorial service or funeral, corporate promotion, or a host of other possibilities!  We are a small, elite group of highly experienced professional bagpipers and drummers, and whether you require a solo bagpiper, a piper and drummer, or even a small pipe band, and your satisfaction with our service is 100% guaranteed.  Standard prices apply for many events (weddings, funerals), but we are happy to customize our performance time and style to your specific needs!

There is nothing quite like the bagpipe to take your wedding celebration to the next level! There are five moments in most weddings when tradition may call for a piper:

• Piping just prior to the ceremony, as a “gathering” for guests. Times may vary from 5-20 minutes or so.
• Processional music for the bridal party, with a different song for the bride herself to walk up the aisle.
• Occasionally, the couple will request a tune during the ceremony, for remembering an absent loved one or for the candle lighting or handfasting ceremony. (Please check with the priest / pastor to make sure that the bagpipe is welcome INSIDE the church!)
• At the end of the marriage ceremony, the piper often plays the newly married couple back down the aisle.
• The piper may also play as guests exit the church or the wedding room (if a caterers or mansion).
Wedding repertoire is typically joyous and happy and includes a wide selection of dancing and marching tunes and songs. The Happy Bagpiper LOVES special requests and will do everything possible to honor them! Please see the SongList and some of the videos elsewhere on this website for ideas and samples.

The Happy Bagpiper considers playing for a departed person to be the most solemn duty that a bagpiper can perform. Our bagpipers’ kindness and demeanor reflect this attitude. Traditional moments for the piper to play during a life celebration include:

• Piping for the viewing / visitation, the day before and / or the day of the funeral.
• Bagpipe music to accompany the remains from the funeral home for transport to the church or cemetery, or out of the church for transport to the cemetery.
• Piping upon the funeral procession’s arrival at the cemetery, and then during and after religious celebration and military honors (if any).
Funeral repertoire is often appropriately mournful and comforting, and usually includes a variety of Celtic songs such as “Going Home” and “Danny Boy,” as well as beloved hymns such as “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” But some families ask for upbeat tunes to celebrate a life well lived, too. All Happy Bagpiper performances include:
• Expert service planning for your event

• Arrival at least 15 minutes prior to performance
• Professional deportment and behavior

• The fee for each performance is quoted on an individual basis
• Payment in full is due no later than the day of the performance and may be made by check to “The Happy Bagpiper” (mail or in person), by cash (in person), or via The Happy Bagpiper website, at happybagpiper.com.
• Gratuities are not expected but always appreciated for exceptional service!

It is conducted in The Happy Bagpiper studio in Haddonfield, NJ, or in a selected home, up to 15 miles from Haddonfield (an additional travel fee applies beyond 15 miles). Discounted price of $45 per hour ($60 for individual lesson) is for a set group of 4-6 students. Ideal for a group of pipers from a pipe band who want to form a “study group” to improve their playing together!
